Like anything else, styles - and design - changes. In clothing, in cars, and in decorating. With the advent of HGTV and websites, such as Houzz, anyone can gather ideas and make a few changes to vary the look of a room. Here are a few of the most popular current decorating styles:
- Industrial - Think warehouse. Open, high ceiling with exposed beams, brick and duct work.
- Mid-Century Modern - Think "Mad Men". Simply, sleek and retro.
- Bohemian - Think whimsy. Nearly anything goes, just follow your heart. Bright colors, floor pillows and vintage finds are often incorporated into this design style.
- Rustic - Think nature. Twigs, logs and plants are used to bring the outside in for this style, coupled with reclaimed and cozy furniture.
- Transitional. Think balance. This design style mixes traditional and modern design for a bit of the unexpected.
There are other design styles and many people have their own personal style that can't be pigeon-holed into a category. What's your decorating style?
