As the awards continue to pile up, I am proud
as ever to call the Greater Madison Wisconsin area my home! In a May 2019
study, Madison was ranked the No. 1 city for jobs, social life and affordable
living after college graduation. The study was conducted by Apartment List and
reported in the May 22 issue of USA Today. It analyzed the city’s population of
young adults, unemployment rates for young adults with a bachelor’s degree or
higher, affordability of rent, nightlife and recreational activities and ease
of meeting new people. Apartment List aggregated their data and then compared
the numbers for 100 cities with Madison coming out on top. Employment
opportunities and housing affordability are the two main reasons that Madison
is so attractive to so many.
Need more reasons to love where we live? Also in
May, the National Association of Realtors (NAR) ranked Madison, WI the number 1
most popular area in the country where Millennials move and stay. In the study,
NAR analyzed the 100 largest U.S. metro areas and ranked them in the areas of
employment gains, population trends, income levels and housing conditions. Once
again, job opportunities and home affordability proved to be the primary
drivers behind a decision to move to Madison.
In addition to strong
governmental employment opportunities at the City, County and State level, we
are blessed to be home to a number of hospitals. Those hospitals, along with
our great neighbor Epic Systems in Verona, helps drive growth in the area of
health care software jobs. Also important to home buyers: Madison had the
lowest unemployment rate among the 100 largest metro areas analyzed.
Millennials who recently moved to our area earn $70,000 per year and can afford
to buy nearly 30 percent of the homes currently listed for sale.
Whether you are looking to buy or sell a home in the City or in the county, I am here to help guide you and hope to make you a happy home buyer or seller!
