REAL ESTATE MARKET LOOKS TO KEEP SPRINGING AHEAD

Traditionally, sellers have waited until late spring to list a property. This year could very likely be different though, because of the mild winter. In 2016, we have seen an upswing in sellers listing before the late-spring curve which has increased their exposure to buyers in the market. And numbers don't lie. In February, total existing-home sales nationally came in at 5.08 million. That's a 2.2% increase over last year because sellers listed early.

When all is said, this spring seems like a perfect opportunity to assist both buyers and sellers reap the benefits of working with a real estate professional in the current super low interest rate environment. And by now, you have heard that the Madison Real Estate Market is CRAZY!  Low inventory, Seller's market, lots of Buyer's, multiple offers, you get the picture.  Probably best to work with a professional who can help navigate the process whether you are buying or selling.  Give me a call, I'm happy to help!

Mid-Town Police Station Update

It's well known that the Madison Police Department is planning a mid-town police station on Mineral Point Rd. in the former site of the Mt. Olive Lutheran Church.

To hear more about the project, join Madison Police Department representatives and project architects at a neighborhood meeting on Thursday April 14th at Our Lady Queen of Peace Church located at 401 S. Owen Dr.

Preliminary plans will be available for review and area residents will receive an overview of the project and have an opportunity to ask questions.

This is a great time to see what it's all about and provide input.  Hope to see you there!

Green Living

Do you have cold and drafty rooms in your home? Mold, moisture or ventilation issues in your home? Is your energy bill high in comparison to the size of your home? An energy audit will provide you a clear road map of what is going on in your home in terms of energy loss.

Green Madison is building a grassroots, community-based effort to significantly reduce Madison’s energy use. Madison is one of 50 cities competing to win the Georgetown $5 million energy prize. Green Madison isproviding a financial incentive for Madison homeowners to have an energy audit during this competition.

Over the past several months Green Madison has hosted energy house parties in every Madison neighborhood. The energy house party format is fairly simple. The host offers his or her home as a platform for educating neighbors and friends about energy efficiency concepts. As a thank you for their efforts, hosts receive a free comprehensive energy audit. By taking an energy tour of the home, these parties show homeowners how even the most basic energy saving technologies, such as insulation, can significantly cut household energy use.

In an effort to win the Georgetown prize, Green Madison is looking to sign up more people to host house parties or have an energy audit. If you have considered having a home energy audit, but couldn’t fit it into your schedule, this is time to do it. Contact jen.rubin@greenmadison.org or check out http://greenmadison.org/ if you want to learn more.
